Hyderabad City Police is the embodiment of law and order and is the agency that enforces law in the Indian city of Hyderabad. Hyderabad City Police department is headed by City Police Commissioner. According to The Hyderabad Protector magazine editor Bharat Verma, Abdul Khayum Khan, the commissioner of police has worked hard to improve the awareness and sensitivity towards its image.

Hyderabad City Police can be attributed as one of the oldest police departments established in 1847 under Hyderabad state. Police of Hyderabad was established by Nizam of Hyderabad, who appointed Commissioners of Police officers of Hyderabad Civil Service, who were as far as administrative matters, were concerned the commissioner office had to report to the Home Department though answerable to the Nizam. This commissioner was known as “KOTWAL” who was directly responsible to look after the directives, by-laws, avoidance and revelation of crime.

  • West Zone.
