Meghalaya Police department comes under direct supervision of Department of Home Affairs, Government of Meghalaya and the police of Meghalaya is lead by Director General of Police.The Total number of Meghalaya Police is 10,568 persons working in several positions. Shillong, secretariat hill is the Headquarters of Meghalaya police.

The goal of Meghalaya Police Department is to check crime, defend public order, uphold justice, confirm the Rule of Law, and have honesty, integrity and fairness in all their dealings. The Meghalaya Police Department is committed to the security and safety of all the citizens and cooperate with the people.

Meghalaya Police Recruitment

Police of Meghalaya conducts recruitment for the level of constables, sub-inspectors and Deputy Superintendent of Police. The Police force of Meghalaya works with various units such as the Intelligence branch, the Meghalaya Police Radio Organization, the Criminal Investigation Department, the Fire services, the Forensic Science Laboratory and the Police Training School. The police of Meghalaya still follow the practices of Assam Police.
