Tripura Police Head Quarters

In order for developing and accelerating culture and civilization, the formation of rule of law is necessary. It is the Police of Tripura, who in the society, administer the law and order and there by help in protecting the progress of expansion and growth. The Tripura Police Head Quarters was built in the year 1965. Back then, it was lead by an Inspector General of Police. Sri R.N. Sheopoory, IPS from 1965 to 1967 was the first Inspector General of Police for Tripura. On 2nd February 1987, Sri H.C. Jatav, IPS took charge as the first Director General of Police, Tripura. The State is segregated into 4 Police Districts which contained 22 Police sub-divisions, 65 Police Stations and 37 Police Out-posts. as of now, Tripura Police Department has 1 Director General of Police, 1 Additional Director General of Police, 6 Inspector Generals of Police, 4 DIGsP and Superintendents / Commandants of various units. 12 Battalions are present in Tripura State Rifles of which 9 come under the India Reserve Battalions.
